SOPHIE MANESSIEZ
Statement
Sophie Manessiez works porcelain as a sensitive structure, slowly shaping modular units, all alike in form, each unique in the mark it carries. Their assembly explores what connects, sustains, and makes a whole possible beyond apparent fragility. The repetition of forms establishes a rhythm from which singularities emerge. The collective does not erase the individual: it reveals it differently, depending on the distance from which it is seen. From afar, a presence that is almost immaterial. Up close, the uniqueness of each mark, a world unto itself. Relationships become constitutive of form, giving rise to sensitive architectures where balance emerges from the interdependence of elements. Each unit holds because the others hold. Her works unfold these relationships within the space they inhabit.
