REBECCA JOHNSON

Rebecca Johnson is an American painter and sculptor based in Northern California. Raised in an art-centered family in New Jersey, she earned a BFA from the Tyler School of Art and an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She also studied bronze casting at the Johnson Atelier and stone carving in Vermont. Working across painting and stone sculpture, Johnson draws inspiration from the landscapes she inhabits, creating works that reflect a close observation of light, geology, and the natural environment. After receiving a fellowship from the British American Arts Council in Wales, her practice shifted toward a deeper engagement with rural landscapes, a focus that continues to shape her work from her studio and sculpture garden in Mendocino County, California.
