NATALIE MUNK

Natalie Munk is an artist and entrepreneur whose lifelong quest to understand the human condition has informed every aspect of her work.

Born in England, she grew up a nomadic spirit, living in Canada, New York City and Long Island, and graduating in Intellectual History & Fine Arts from Brown University. Her passion is to explore how different materials work and react –she started welding at the age of 16, studied architecture as a postgrad at Parsons, and spent numerous summers working in fashion design.

As an artist she was represented by Spike Gallery in New York City and Corkin Gallery in Toronto, exhibiting at Miami Basel Art Fair for four years before taking a break to raise her three children.

In 2020 Munk launched Kaylo, a progressive online platform in the creative well-tech space to help people live healthier, fuller lives. Her mission can, in many ways, be seen as a logical evolution of her artistic journey –a tangible expression of her fascination with community, magic, mystery and truth that has always been present in her painting.

Munk expressively paints the emotional drama she sees in the world around her. In vibrant ways, she explores the rawness of the human condition and captures the poetry of the everyday. She portrays a culture caught up in the frenzied age of technology and celebrity. Most of the characters in her paintings are cut off from each other, their family and community –yet are always portrayed with humour and beauty, whether they are lost, confused, angry or at peace. She brings to life ‘emotional beings’ on her canvas –human.
