Born in Moscow. Resides in London. Marina Todres has lived in different countries (Russia, Belgium, Italy, UK) and worked in different fields (ecological sciences, pharmaceuticals, TV production) After few years of amateur ceramic practice she studied at Morley College (London) and attained an HND in ceramics.
Her works are Minimalistic in style, with laconic forms and settled colours. She believes that Nature is an endless source of inspiration and the clay helps animate natural objects. Peebles can become a resting flock of birds (or maybe other creatures) with their own system of relationships and subordination, and an egg could turn into a mysterious urn. Nobody knows what is inside and how long it’s been there. She hopes to intrigue viewers and engage their imagination.
